Relational Consent

Some ethical problems are solved in the room. This one cannot be. The exercise asks you to establish that for yourself before it shows you where the error actually happened.

The presentation

A couple presents for sex therapy reporting decreased frequency of sexual activity and growing disconnection. In the third session, the therapist suggests individual check-in sessions. The male partner discloses in his individual session that he has been sexually active outside the relationship for the past eighteen months and that his partner does not know.

The therapist has not established a clear confidentiality policy for individual sessions within the conjoint treatment.
